SATA DVD Drive Problems

i have a plextor 716 SATA and a asus a8n-sli deluxe motherboard and my plextor is not working.

when i put a cd or dvd in it it just freezes and i have to reset my computer and take the cd or dvd out because it won't even start windows if i leave it in.

This is i guess a problem lots of ppl are having but i can only find posts about the problem and not the solution.

I just installed WinXP and now this shit is going on.
I had WinXP64 before and it worked fine

I don't want to go back to 64 right now because it will not run a few of my programs so i was thinking i would have less problems with the more tested OS, and now i can't even put in a music cd without a restart! I'm getting vary pissed.

help would be sweet.

try switching the sata chipset its on
