| Sister Fister | well if it's only for school and you're not gona play any games on it, Dell has the 600m line of laptops http://www1.us.dell.com/content/prod...=19&l=en&s=dhs but you have a wide range of laptops to choose from, it's not just one brand, gateway has some and so does Sony but I don't like Sony computers because I've had friends with bad experiences with their Sony laptops (they're only made to guide nukes around the world for revenge. just kidding. that wasn't funny.) |

| floats | I decided to replace my 15" Compaq for a 12" iBook (IŽll see how well do I handle MacOSX). IŽve figured that an iBook does what I need while being lightweight and compact enough to carry it in my backpack whenever I need (I tried that a couple of times with my soon to be ex-notebook and let me tell you, the backpack weighted a ton with the laptop and books). My experience is that you need a laptop you can carry all day long without straining your back more than what is strictly necesary. If your friend is a college student, Apple has an offer for students where theyŽll give you a 4g mini iPod free after a MIR and knock off $50 off the price. Aditionally, a Dell with similar characteristics (12" screen, lightweight, 512m Ram, 40g HD) runs in the 1300's range and you donŽt get the iPod! IŽll probably get the goodies this Sunday. I'll post the results I get used to it, but I'm kinda excited about getting it for the time being (BTW, Sorry about the Thread hijack!!) |
