I'm using bittorrent

I'm wondering if my upload/download ratio affects how fast I get to download data.

Most of the time, I can hit atleast 100 kb/s, but lately, with recent torrents with a lot of seeds and leechers, they only seem to be downoading at like 3 kb/s

I've never seen or heard of a tracker limiting your download speed because of a shit ratio. I've heard of other things though like limiting the number of simultaneous downloads.

If you're using the "original" BitTorrent client (shit), it defaults to port 6881, which is technically the default BT port. However, most ISP's now block or throttle traffic to 6881. Do yourself a favor, download uTorrent (Linux: use Deluge), open a decent port on your router and set it to that.

Other things can be a factor to. Just because a torrent has a ton of seeders doesn't mean you'll always connect to the fastest ones. Any firewalls you may have could potentially be blocking seeders too.

if theres more leechers then seeders then that may be the problem..

+ if your upload limit is below 8 i think it limits your download..

well, the only thing I ever saw about d/l - u/l is a tracker that checks if you cap your upload speed. If you do (ex: you limit to 2 kb/sec), you won't have priority to connect with 100k /s uploaders, etc.

Aside from that, there can be ratio issues, but I've only seen that on demonoid so far.

Also get Peer Guardian and I can set you up with some block lists that I got.

In short your little Bobby is extremely creative and a free thinker. So there fore he is suspended for three weeks.
