Problem with CD / DVD burning

First of all, I have Vista Ultimate x64

When I used the buildt-in CD / DVD burning software, everything was fine. Though windows doesn't offer a lot of options. For example, you can't burn .iso.

To solve that problem, I decided to install NERO 8 ULTRA. After the install, I was able to burn a iso, but almost any regular burn I tried to do (CD or DVD) somewhat botched the disc. The burn process seemed to go well, but after I was done, the disc appeared as empty when loaded.

I removed NERO, and burning was possible again.

Then today, I needed to open a .UIF file (MagicIso format). So I installed it.
If I want to burn an image on a disc, it does the same crap as with NERO. Scraps the discs.

Any idea on what's happening here?

I would recommend updating the firmware to your drive. It has always fixed every single problem I have ever had with burning. At least start with this then we can try other methods.
