| Junior Member | I don't think it is, but, here's what I want to do. I'd like to connect my landline to my laptop, and when I get a call, for it to be routed through bluetooth to my mobile. I haven't had any luck using my phone as a headset much less this. I'm interested in 'free' solutions by the way. Anyone know of any apps? The usual OSS places don't turn up anything (freshmeat, sourceforge). Thanks. |

| Dont mess with old school | It would work but I don't know how you would switch it automatically. Make sure you have a good data plan for your cell phone. |

| Basically, you're trying to turn your cellphone into a portable phone through your computer's bluetooth? We just have a portable phone, which cost a whopping $35.00 What you need is some sort of app that controls the phone line via the computer, using input/output from your bluetooth phone as a remote peripheral, in addition to voice communication, right? I've never heard of anything like that, but it sounds like it ought to be possible. The app should have a built in voicemail feature, so that you can at least get a message when your bluetooth is out of range or turned off. |

| Dont mess with old school | Hold on, I'm either not following you or everyone is thinking of something different. So you want your landline calls to go through your cell phone via bluetooth? If so I think this is what you are looking for. http://www.phoneyworld.com/newspage.aspx?n=1341 It's not free but it may point you in the right direction. |

| Junior Member | ivwshane: That's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. Thanks for the pointer. I've tried many times to look for a way to make my phone act like a headset but no luck. ...and yes, I know portable phones aren't that expensive, but that's not the point Thanks for all the replies. I'll bump the thread if I make some more progress (in case anyone is interested). |
