The screen went blue and says something with physical dump of memory. It happen on both while gaming and while not gaming.

I checked the the drivers of my sound blast live! 24bit and my x850xt. both of these turns out not having up to date driver so I update it and no more blue screen.

However... few days gone by.... after restarting my computer it start to happen again. I thought I update the driver? why is it still happening? seems like when it happen I must update the driver over again and when the computer is shut down or restart... the problem occur again.

- athlon64 3200+
- 1.5gig ram
- x850xt
- sound blaster live! 24bit
- xp home sp2

Does it blue screen while booting up or while the system is up and running? After you update the drivers it is fine until you reboot?

I would do a checkdisk. Your harddrive may have some bad sectors.

I had many problems with the creative driver sets when combined with ATI drivers. I ended up rolling back the drivers. Did you completely remove old drivers (cats and creative?). The problem with the drivers working until reboot, make me suspect that the old drivers (or portions/remnants of them)
are interfering with the new and the system is defaulting to the old versions upon reboot.

Until now, never!before in Earth history, has mass extinction involved a choice.

Yup I think wiskas hit it. Make sure you uninstall the old drivers first, I had the same problem once and it was windoors getting confused on boot as to what drivers to use.

I'm trying to evolve.

Yup, in those cases, that damn OS defaults back to the last known good config....if that config is corrupt or incomplete, BSOD/mem dump.

This worked for me:
Download ATI The Catalyst Uninstaller 1.0 Driver for Win 2K/XP - Softpedia
Be sure to remove all of your sound card drivers before renewing those also, sometimes the creative proggy doesn't uninstall every trace. Once I had to run the creative install three times before the new drivers worked.
