| Indigenous Nudist | without buying a new wireless router? ive already got 2 pc's, xbox, and xbox 360 wired to my linksys. I just got a laptop and i'd like for it to have wireless access. is there a cheap solution or do i need to buy a wired/wireless router i also wouldnt mind having my 360 wireless as well but that would constitute buying the adapter (bleh) |

| Habitual line stepper | Is there even a cheaper way than buying another router? Not too long ago I bought 4 11mbit wireless B routers on ebay for $25. There getting super cheap, even at Best Buy and the like. |

| Jolly Bolly Fo-Folly | Well my personal recommendation, is to go with a standard Linksys WRT54G router. They are great, and if you can get a v1-v6 you're good for an aftermarket firmware. They run linux, and the aftermarket firmwares that are out are really nice and have alot of features that you wouldnt normally find on a consumer router. With that said you can find one of these routers for under $50 most places, but I would shop around and make sure to get the WRT54G, not the WRT54GS or other models with things after the G, and try to keep it under v6, as newer models have no solutions. You could buy two, and then pretty much have everything setup for wireless. One would be setup as the main router. It would serve the internet, and you could have some wired things to it or not. The other one you could put somewhere else in your house, like by your 360 so you could have it be "wireless" as far as from the main internet connection. If youre curious I can explain further with more details, but it really depends on your desired setup and how many wired/wireless devices you plan to run. |
