Get this. My 4 month old Alienware laptop hardrive dies. I call tech support on 24 Aug and they agree it's dead and will send me another. They take my credit card number because if they don't get the old drive back in five days after I sign for the new one, they charge me, fair enough. A week goes by and no hardrive. I call last Friday and the guy stumbled through an I'm sorry speech (obviously they never bothered to ship it) and promised me I would get it by next Friday (tomorrow) (I go on a three week biz trip to DC on Saturday) Well, it's Thursday and still no hardrive, they have one more day. But, get this, I get a credit card bill in the mail today and they charged me for the drive I didn't return on the 24th of August, the first night I made contact with them. Customer service is closed so I have to wait until tomorrow to hear the brilliant excuse that is waiting for me. Now I'm two weeks in DC with no computer. I have my work computer but everything is blocked except websites related to my job. Fucking hell Alienware.

Oh laptop, my apologies. Usually when people buy Alienware Desktops the first thing I blurt out is "build your own!".. or "Falcon Northwest!".. or "Voodoo PC!"

You should be asking Dell how they let their Alienware staff become so retarded.

"We both got fucked over on that part and not in the rememberable go brag to your friends way, no, no, this is the you cry tears and try to pretend you are someplace else sodomy type." -Joe

"Women are odd like that... one day they confess to love you, the next day you wake up to a beep beep beep sound of a garbage truck backing up and picking up the garbage can she put you in." - Joe

I actually considered buying a bare bones laptop and DIY but I've had friends do that with mixed results. AW is really not that bad of a company they just made a real big boo boo with this new laptop. Cheap plastic and state of the art red hot components is never a good mix. I've got to admit, when it's running, a blue ray movie looks better on the laptop than my Sony/Denon home theater setup.

The tech support in Costa Rica is actually not that bad, it's customer service in Miami that's making my life difficult

krod,

PM me your info and I'll fix this for you. The charge you saw was technically a "hold of funds" until the old drive is received back. Feel free to talk directly to me if you ever have issues with your system.

Holy shit, isn't this the second failure for that unit? Just goes to show that even Honda can make a lemon now and then.

Bear is the fucking man

All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can.

Thanks Bear, I've been out with the boys so I'll keep this short and hope it makes sense. I had some files on my external "quick swap" I absolutely had to have for my research in DC so I bought a cheap hardrive today and swaped it out just to get them...done. But, with the new hardrive I'm still getting blue screens left and right. I'll PM you in the AM but I think I need to canx the hardrive replacement and send the whole unit in for repair. Again I'll PM you tomorrow somewhere between my hangover and my flight.

Did they have you run any diagnostics on that drive?
