Man, I am so anti-THG, the first thing I thought was look at those gay lens flares on the CPUs. I wish I could overcome my animosity, but I can't. I can't even bring myself to read the article.

haha =0

I think that dual cores are a good way to go. They're not going to offer the same performance that a true dual proc system will, but it's a fraction of the cost. No dual proc board to buy, and no having to buy two procs.

wow, i totally ignored the flare.

Multi-core will rock in about 3 years when all computers are and the software is coded for it.

I make myself laugh.

Just like 64-Bit processors when they started coming out from AMD, right?

The problem with dual-core released now, is that in three years time, those processors, sockets, ram, etc. will be obsolete, and the dual-core that they do design for, will be far superior to the point that it's still not worth getting dual-core.

And how often are you ever going to use two-single core processors right now? Only if you run a server of some kind.

I'll stick with my single-core, hyper-threading, 32-Bit Pentium 4 for another couple years.

It makes me think if I should have got the X-2 insted of getting the FX, because the FX isnt duel core.

I was a Dragon force fan before Guitar Hero..

Yes, the current ones will be outdated by that time but you have to start somewhere. The potential is there for some really powerfull systems its just a matter of taping that power.

The only issue is that the price is outrageous for home computing, and for server use (accordign to the article benchmarks) there isn't much of a performance gain except on computing density (apparently all Dual core mobos are the same as dual-proc mobos). So in a server room, except you have limited power or room to put all the dual-proc systems, it is till a better deal to use dual-proc systems...

I'll stick my my old Athlon 2500+ for a while. However, the idea of a dual proc-64bits rig is awfully tempting!

You're the real thing,
Even better than the real thing.
