| Oilfield Trash | The problem I have ran into is setting up dual monitors on a laptop. I have a vga splitter but it is only cloning the display and not letting me extend the desktop like I want to. I have 2 20" monitors Im trying to hook up to a laptop. Ive tried disabling the laptop screen but that doesnt seem to do anything. Anybody know of a way to do this? Thanks |

| Administrator | Wait what are you trying to do? Are you trying to extend your laptops display to another monitor? Or are you trying to use 2 actual monitors? You mentioned you're using a VGA splitter, a vga splitter wont let you extend anything it will simply output the same signal to two vga devices. If you are trying to extend your laptops display onto a monitor, why are you using a vga splitter at all? To use dual monitors you need a video card with more than one output header or you need more than one video card. |

| Globe Trekker | A splitter will only get you mirror images. To truly get dual, separate displays you'll need a docking station or an external adapter such as this one from Matrox: Matrox DualHead2Go Notebook Multi-display Breakout Box - PCSTATS.com |

| Globe Trekker | You could do dual screens with the hardware you have now, but one screen would have to be the one built into the laptop. |

| Globe Trekker | Did he want a desktop or a laptop? I guess I don't understand how he could go from wanting dual screens to wanting an whole new system. |

| Resident Cynic | Maybe he was using his Laptop with no PC and decided having a PC and a laptop is just easier in his eyes. |
