My wireless router fried in a power outage so i built one. I used a windows xp Pro computer with a PII-450 and a 30gig got 5 network cards and a wireless lan card in it too. works great!!! I use the wireless as a AD HOC (peer-to-peer) wireless connection for my laptop. gets better range than the router did before. This is only a temparary solution till my router gets back from warranty repairs

AMD Athlon64 2800+
1GB DDR400
223GB (formatted) RAID-0 (2 120GB S-ATAs)
Radeon 9550 256MB DDR w/ Thermaltake
Funky crazy lights

Do what I did:

Put clarkconnect on the box and two nics. One connects to your broadband modem and the other to a switch, then connect a wireless AP to the switch.

Now you will have a clean setup and with that cc box you can setup an email server (web based to if you want), file server, print server, web server, and a dhcp server too, all while being nice and secure.
