ya so pretty soon my HD is gonna bite the dust.....im already getting signs. the other day my boot up time gradually just got worse and worse. i ran two scandisks yesterday and nothing came up wrong. today i did a scandisk and i got like 50 orphin files or whatever and some other errors. luckily i haven't gotten any errors in windows....yet. Since i can still use windows, you think i should go ahead and make an image of my hard drive now, or do you think the file system is too FUBARd to make a backup worthwhile. obviously im gonna need a new SATA hard drive. i was thinking of just going with a raptor, but i havent been keeping up with the market.....any other options i should be looking at? thx in advance

I would try to use that computer as little as possible. Go get yourself a new drive and get Windows set up on it, then set your old drive to slave and copy everything to the new main drive.

You can never go "wrong" with making a backup. I'm sure at this point your >files< will be OK. That way, in the worse case scenario, you have some CDs with all your docs and whatever else you need.
