| Junior Member | So ive got a gig of ddr400 ram. My motherboard is an Asus A7N8X-x, with a barton 2500+ in it (fsb of 166mhz) I want to run the ram at the 200mhz speed but i cant seem to get it. The reason being that i have the cpu overclocked to 189mhz. Now the mobo has the option to change the speed to 100%, 120% etc of the CPU however none of the available options can get it right at 200mhz, or close to it. ( i dont think) Can anyone help? |

| Senior Member | Have you tried setting your FSB at 200MHz and your ram at 100% of the FSB? Usually it won't work if you creep up to 200 because the correct clock divider won't kick in, but if you try jumping straight to 200 it might work (assuming your proc and ram can handle it). |

| Junior Member | Well its a barton 2500+ so i dont think it will handle the 200mhz....although i do have it stable at 190 now.....i cant change the mulitplier at all though. If only the % of fsb where in smaller increments...then i would be sweet. Anyone know if a bios update could give me more options for this board? |

| Member | AFAIK, you shouldn't run memory and CPU out of sync, it just not worth it: you can end up with lower performance. |

| Senior Member | Well, Barton 2500+'s are known for their overclockability using FSB increases. Just try bumping the FSB to 200Mhz directly. The worst thing that can happen is that you'll need to reset your BIOS, that's it. Also, it is possible to unlock the mulitplier on your chip. Take a look at this. |

The memory should be fine as it is ddr400 Any truth to Berkut's point? How does it affect performance? | |

| Tweak Minion | More than likely, it wont post at 200 if anything, and then you can just reset your bios...If it does, you may experience freezing/restarting if it cant handle it. Overheating wont happen unless you have insufficient cooling, but it wont be running too much hotter than it is at 190. |

| I've had the 2500+ at 200fsb successfully, and with the stock HSF and thermal tape, at that! Just make sure the CPU clocking is set to Optimum instead of Aggressive, if you have a Biostar board! |
