Mac Data Recovery for Deleted Files

In Windows there were a bunch of good choices: GDB, OnTrack, and a billion clones that would help you recover deleted files (or music etc. after formatting the hard drive). Does anyone know any decent programs for Mac? I can't test them because I don't have a Mac, but my friend had some issues with his computer and Apple wiped the hard drive. I was hoping to recover some photos and music for him.

Back up that data kids! Seriously, who keeps data in only one place these days? We've all heard enough horror stories by now that those caught with their pants down throughly deserve the fucking...
