oh god.
www.yahoo.com

"It is good that war is terrible, otherwise we would become over fond of it." - Robert E. Lee.

"You know, I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."

Strangely enough, both those yahoo and google have been very helpful to me, as I've foomatic'd and lndir'd my way through installing and reinstalling Linux. :P I'm gonna look at that "Linux for Dummies" link, since it's right up my alley.

All my tidbits so far are in the other Linux threads.

Not a link per se, but go to the website of the flavor of Linux you're installing, and read the user forums there, as well as the faqs and guides. Since I've been using Kubuntu, I've found many answers to my questions (such as the fact that Kubuntu doesn't HAVE lndir, which I found out AFTER reinstalling Linux today in the vain hope I just messed up the previous install) in the Kubuntu forums.

LinuxISO.com down at the moment, but a good site for ISO links and reviews/suggestions when it's back up.

Great site for anything to do with Linux and gaming
http://www.linux-gamers.net/

Same as KDE look, but for gnome
http://www.gnome-look.org/

Super Karamba, great little app, kind of like the precursor to Yahoo Widgets. Allows for use of OSX like app bar in KDE
http://netdragon.sourceforge.net/ssuperkaramba.html

Automatix, best single app for Ubuntu yet. It allows the easy install of drivers, codecs, and many other useful things.
http://www.getautomatix.com/

TLDP! The Linux Documentation Project. It's slowed down a little lately, but is still a great resource on pretty much anything linux.
http://tldp.org/

I'll think up more.

There once was a man named Bertold
Who drank beer when the weather grew cold
As he reached for his cup...
"NEEEEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP!!!"
Oh, snap! You just got limerickrolled!

more on gnome, kde isnt a looker anymore, version 1 was nice but since its gotten rough edges. docs on animations in progress bars and some sites on gtk apps that run in Xwindows how to enable XGL info on cairo etc,. I dont touch suse knoppix anything that is a distro that includes anything more than libs for QT. Knoppix would help because of QTParted but ubuntu live has Parted software as well.
