Anyone know anywhere that sells cheap high-intensity lights? Preferably in white or a natural sunlight shade in the 10k range.

I'd like to add a light to my betta tank and if it ends up being easy enough I might use it as a source on my main planted aquarium.

Oh and if anyone has any suggestions on quick and easy ways to build a circuit any help is appreciated.

The last time I was at Radioshack I believe they had some "bright" LED's. You could also check out Checker or Autozone, they may have some also. Worst case scenerio you can order them online.

Why not just buy high power torch that have high intensity white leds. Rip apart the thing run it using some dc voltage regulator. You can get more creative, use LM555 timer chip, very small easy timer circuit. Just need like 3 resistor and two cap. That way you can have lights on for some hours then off. If you don't want to build a circuit just buy one of those timer sockets. Hook up the DC voltage regulator to that.

Right. Don't really want to rip something apart as I'd like to have a bit of flexibility with the lighting. Plus, I'm sure finding the parts would be cheaper.

Phantom: Didn't realize the Ratshack had superbright LEDs now, I'll have to check them out.

Radioshack has them for a premium, I'd suggest looking on ebay for them in bulk to get them the cheapest.
