I'm curious if it is possible to simply disconnect the power and data cable from my existing old hard drive, reconnect to my new hard drive and start to perform the installation...then if and when I want to take a break reconnect my old hard drive so I can resume playing the game I am so highly addicted to...then again at a later time when I feel like it reconnect new HD to finish installation, and so on.

I'm moving from a WD 20GB to a WD 250GB.

Just not sure if any BIOS/mobo/jumper settings will screw with my plans. And I want to be lazy because I usually run into issues which makes it an entire day to get everything running smoothly again

i kind of understand your question but am totally confused. Do you want to 1) Have both drives in there running at the same time 2) switch between the two drives.

CPUZ - google it

are you asking if you can unplug hard drives while the computer is on? if so, hells no
or are you asking if you can resume installing windows after you close it? if so, then also no

sata is hot swappable but a computer system in and of itself is not...thus once an OS is loaded you cant swap OS's (and two different installs on two different drives is two different OS's)

That sounds like it answers my question, thanks Drakkon. Oh well, husband will have to wait for his upgrade
