OK so I have a 2800 amd 64 clawhammer on a Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro with 1gb of pc3200 ram and a 120gb Bacuda with my ti4200 in it. First I put a clean load of windows on it. That worked until I started updating and putting stuff on it. After I updated and everything my cpu idle usage was at 50%+. Under processes it just say system idle processes is taking 99% of that 50%. I want to know how I can tell what part inside that system idle processes is doing this. Can I?

My System:
Athlon Xp 2000+ @2.02Ghz (15x135)
1gb Corsair DDR 400 and 512mb of Crucial DDR 333
Abit Siluro GF4 Ti4200 8x .

was the copy of windows the stock non service pack 1/2 version? were you connected to the internet immediately after the install? if the aswer is yes to both of those questions, you more than likely got raped by virii........run a virus scan just to be sure, but thats prolly the culprit

Yes System Idle Process
Yes it is 99% but see that 99% is of 50% vs the 1-5% it should be. I think it has something to do with windows updates because I updated and it went down to normal then restarted and then it shoot back up to 50%+. I did a bios update and that didnt help anything.

Wait what? Repeat that first sentence, but in English . If you go to task managed and look at the "System Idle Process" what exactly does it read?

from what i gather, its at 99

but then the actual CPU usage at the bottom is 50% rather than 0-5%

how many processes are running? i have 21 on startup, try ending as many as possible and see if it helps anything

Yes 99% of the 50% cpu load is used for System Idle process. The other 1% is slip amundg the other processes running. I have 37 processes runing. I dont think that is the problem because it is not like the cpu usage is being spead over those processes it is just on one process. I tirend ending all I could and othing helped. Even in safe mode I get the same cpu load.

Athlon Xp 2000+ @2.02Ghz (15x135)
1gb Corsair DDR 400 and 512mb of Crucial DDR 333

sort your processes by CPU usage (click the column header called CPU), and take a screen shot of that and post it here. i did a google search, does your system ide process look like the one here

If so its normal.

I make myself laugh.

See^
That 99% is the percent that that process is taking of the overall cpu usage. I listed them from highest to lowest cpu usage.
