Sorry for the crap pics, my only camera is my blackberry (I don't have an ipod either - I suck, I know.)

What is everyone's thoughts? I have not had a chance to hook it up yet. The big heatsink raised up is something that has a casing on it, so no more info there. It is a Pentium 4. The RAM is just sets of resistors where the chips should be and has a sticker on it "thermal dimm" - these came in it. The little things in the lower right are 4-pin headers, like an aux audio jumper. I have a good idea what this is, but I need to fire it up first.

Gamercard

Just guessing but it looks like an early gen P4 intel/super micro server board (lack of USB ports near the audio ports give me that idea and teh southbridge heatsink looks like the socket 370/478 boards). Not sure what you mean when you say that "AM is just sets of resistors where the chips should be and has a sticker on it "thermal dimm" " because I see the memory chips...or are those not DIMMs?

the dimms have no actual chips on them, just resistor pairs where the chips should be

Could those just be RD-RAM spacers? Haven't seen RAMBUS for a while.

hudsmack's

Gamercard

That looks like an embedded system board, like for an ATM or something.

Yeah, look at all of those weird headers in the lower right corner. Not a standard PC motherboard for sure.

I don't know if you can see it, but there wires running all over. They go to different pieces (CPU, northbridge, etc) and then connect back to a header on the side.

On a different note:
Newegg.com - Open Box: TYAN S3870G2NR-RS Dual 940 ServerWorks HT1000 ATX Server Motherboard
Just got one of these with a pair of dual core opterons and 4gb RAM. I need something to put in the pci-x slot. The thing doesn't have a agp or pcie slot so it will be replacing my recently deceased server. I'm jacking a copy of ESX from work to throw on there I think.

There should be a code on the motherboard that identifies it that you can type in google.

dude, wtf, the amount of audio header things on the right corner is fucking insane. You have to find out what those are for.

Agreed, it's definitely for some kind of industrial use.

May be a controler board for an automated systems interconnect bridge. I saw something similar, albeit PII at a mill I worked at. It was controling the scrubber system and thermal venting/anti pollution monitoring of the kilns.
The whole scrubber system cost 6.5 million bux. it did save about 2 tons of sollids from going into the atmosphere in a day.

Until now, never!before in Earth history, has mass extinction involved a choice.
