Alright, so i have this hdd, 80GB i believe. It broke a while back.
Full of GOOD porn. I ended up opening it up and messing with it, it got dust all in there and shit.. Then i put it all back together and it didnt work. duh.
At the time i didnt think of putting it in the freezer, i bet if i did that i coulda got it to work long enough to backup..

Are there any online articles or bootleg how-tos on repairing an hdd?

I have a similar drive and i already tried swapping the boards, but no luck.
Is there anyway i can do some miraculous cleaning to the platters?

I just dont wanna send it off to get repaired and they see all the porn i got, i'd be embarrassed.

Other than the freezer thing, I haven't seen much else.

But now that you're got dust in there, good luck. Even if you tried your best to clean it off, once that thing gets spinning...you could be seriously fubar'd.

nope theres really nothing you can do to get it working now you would need to send it to a recovery company to get anything back

The measure of the air quality of a clean room is described in Federal Standard 209. Clean rooms are rated as "Class 10,000," where there exists no more than 10,000 particles larger than 0.5 microns in any given cubic foot of air; "Class 1000," where there exists no more than 1000 particles; and "Class 100," where there exists no more than 100 particles. Hard disk drive fabrication requires a Class 100 clean room.
your room or freezer is no were near whats needed for opening a hard drive and expecting it to work flawlessly

I have a 250GB hard drive that is pretty much dead, it wont load with any mobo that has s.m.a.r.t. enabled. (I get a, "hard drive is going bad. Replace disk" error).

Any chance of me being able to use it or fix whatever is causing it to go bad?

I don't care about the data on it.
