| | How do you change the refresh rate in ubuntu live? | permalink #1 |
| Dont mess with old school | So I've decided to try out the ubuntu live cd since I heard that if you like gui interfaces they made this one the easiest to use. So far I agree except one thing. For my monitor the default refresh rate is too low and killing my eyes. I don't know what program ubuntu is using (xserve or whatever it's called) and the gui interface for changing resolutions and refresh rates don't allow me to change the refresh rate (it does but there are no other options other than the default setting of 60Hz, ouch!). So I guess I need to know how to do it from the terminal. | |

| Habitual line stepper | System / Preferences / Screen Resolution. EDIT: whoops. You're going to need to edit you xorg.conf file, since you running a liveCD there is no point. Install Ubuntu and play with it more, the LiveCD is scaled back and just doesn't work as well as an installed distro does. | |

| Dont mess with old school | You can't specify the refresh rate before the install like knoppix? | |

| Raptor Jesus | Yeah I don't think so. I tried the LiveCD back with 4.10 (Warty), installed it and haven't reinstalled anything since. | |
