Hmm Tweak3d since 98'. Where does the time go?? Seems like the only time i visit anymore is when im stuck with a problem. Hope someone out there feels enough charity to respond this time.
Check this out. My neighbor had a hdd problem so we went out and bought him a new one. His system is way old. His bro used it until i built him a new one January of this year. So anyways He has this bootleg copy of win2k pro that was installed before over Win98'se. Well it turns out that he doesnt have a floppy boot disc for it. So we install Win98se and then proceed to install win2kpro over it. It seemed to install ok but when it got to one of the reboots it stopped. There was a message about Driver not installing u know a Win32 driver eh heh. Now Im stuck. Tried and Tried to fix it but im just not that Hip with win2kpro and why this driver wont load/install. The whole thing is stuck now and i feel miserable for my pal. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I been foolin with OS's and hardware since 96' but im not a true geek. Please help meh. Any chance I can clear the hdd or somehow boot from a floppy and reinstall 98'se over 2k again? Anything at all?

make a bootfloppy on a working computer. once your in the terminal (DOS) 'format C:'
and your hard drive is now blank.

though, you shouldnt have to do that, windows should just do it for you when it installs.

If that computer cant boot strait to a CD without a floppy, i would highly recomend against windows 2K, seeing as its old as dirt.

Check over the BIOS settings and make sure his computer doesn't have the ability to boot from CD. Becuase if he can, you've wasted a lot of time. Otherwise, there are sites where you can download boot images for any windows version and write them to floppy disks, or do as super_Chris mentioned.

The win2k cd should have the (4)necessary boot/setup floppies on it as disc images(in the BOOTDISK folder on my win2k cd), though like the previous posters, I would just use the boot-from-cd option if it's available.

If your CD is of questionable origins (ie: burned and not bootable), I suggest slipstreaming SP4. There is at least 1 guide out there for that that includes info on how to make the CD bootable again too.

I agree about the boot-from-CD deal but in terms of the error can you post it? If not, take out all items that aren't immediately needed and try it again.

Ok sorry for the long wait for a reply but we did get it done..... can u imagine it was a faulty cable connector from the HD to the board? Done ask me what that could have to do with the thing not booting properly right in the middle of the OS download but we replaced the cable and the thing boots up nicely. That is very strange but the problem is solved. Thanks for the help.
