| I Am The Black Wizards | I made a post a while back saying that my 30GB Maxtor main HDD was dying (of old age, no doubt). Well, I replaced it with a 300gb Maxtor on December 30th. About 10 days after installed, my system locked up. I didn't think much of it at the time. I powered down and booted up and continued to use my computer for a few days. All hell broke loose. My system got worse and worse. Looking up after a few hours, then a few minutes. At the time, I didn't think it were the HDD, so I did some backing up in safe mode. With no music going, I swore that I heard a "click" just before it locked up in safe mode. I thought to myself, it can't be the HDD, it's brand new.. It was. I ran a LiveCD of Ubuntu 5.10 on my system for a few hours and it ran fine. I mounted the HDD under it and started browsing. I heard that "click" again, and my file browser locked up under linux. I had to killer it. It was the HDD. So now, after a few hours of messing around, am back from CompUSA with a replacement Maxtor. Honestly, I've never had a problem with Maxtor HDD's. This is really a first. if this one pulls the same shit, I'm switching to Seagate. |

| I Am The Black Wizards | I didn't think it was so apparent. Maxtors used to be great.. and now.. wow. Anyway, it looks like I'm giving up on PC's and switching to Macs, so I probably have to take back the HDD anyway (It isn't SATA) |

I've just gotten tired of working on my PC to get it running how I want it to. I deal with macs in some of my classes, so I know what they're capable of, and they suit me and what I need to do. | |

| Dont mess with old school | How hard is it to get a pc working reliably? Other than dealing with ati drivers I never have issues. |

| Chief Webologist | Seagates are much better anyway and have a 5 year warranty too. I'd check your PSU to be sure it's OK. My roommate had a Raptor fail @ 1 week and it turned out his power supply was screwed up. It killed another a few weeks later. |
