Im installing this on my 1&1 and i can't figure out how to set up the database for it.

It's a pain in the ass to do, but I've heard it can be done. You need to have Linux hosting, and it involves running some commands in ssh. I attempted to install it once for my band's old website, but it wasn't worth my time to figure out how to install it, so I just made my own gallery in HTML.

I'm on the verge of a 1&1 account, just to host photos. What service plan did you end up going with?

Maybe 1and1 fixed it, but I had no way of installing imagemagick libraries for Gallery. I tried installing them via SSH, but I didn't have the permissions. YMMV though as this was about a year or so ago.

I loved 1and1 to death, but this isn't exactly one of their strong points. I can try and help you with your database setup if that's what your problem is. I've been running a moderately sucessful torrent website since late 2004(?) and have come to learn a considerable amount of SQL and database management.
