Well I was editing some group policy stuff and security settings, and I set it so my admin account would be locked after so many invalid attemps. Well some tried logging into my account and now it's locked out, but I can't unlock it. How can I get it back? I know you could recover lost password with Knoppix. I have knoppix if that will help in this situation.

So are you locked out locally? Or are you trying to logon on to a client machine with the admin account that's locked out?

Are you using a desktop or is this a server?

If this is just xp you will need to login with another administrative account (either another account with admin rights that you created or the default admin account). Hopefully you still have the original admin account setup (administrator is the username and the password is something you would have setup in the very begining of the OS install).

Well I got it to work

I couldn't remember if I set the account to become unlocked after a period of time or not and I did. I left it at the default 30 minutes, so I am back in. Thanks for the help anyways.

I don't know the default administrator account password. I don't even remeber setting one.

I don't know how to set one. It won't let you change it in the Administrative tools.
