I always use Aimersoft DVD Creator, it can easily convert all popular video formats (AVI, MP4, MPG, MPEG, 3GP, WMV, ASF, RM, RMVB, DAT, MOV, FLV, etc) to DVD and burn DVD movie played on portable and home DVD players, that's very good, you can check it out for free

I'm gonna ignore the two new guys trying to sell their product, and also ask what DVD brand is the best to buy when trying to burn a avi to dvd, what size should I also look for?

I'll give it a shot. I'm new but not new if that makes sense.

Anyway, I have had good luck with DVDFlick. It works well, handles a lot of formats, and may have the features you need. Oh yea, it's also free.

As for the DVD brand, I just use what works well in my burner and what the set top DVD player handles the best. Maxell and Fujifilm DVD+R have always yielded the best results for me but I have an old burner (BenQ 1620 B7V9). Your mileage may vary. I would guess that 4.7gb would be the right size. Dual Layer can be used although you probably won't see a huge audio/video quality jump. Not enough for it to be worth it anyway.

Hope this helps.
