Okay, I am doing what a lot of people are doing and downgrading to XP from vista.

I have a HP dv9700...could be 9825 not too sure..
I HAVE WINDOWS XP ON IT ALREADY.

The problems I am having are driver related, I think. Device Manager will not show that there is a WLAN card anymore. I have installed HP Wireless Assistant, It tells me the WLAN is disabled through Device Manager...I go there...nothing.

I need help with this. I also need Ethernet drivers..and I think I'm using Realtek sound, but I need to get my sound up and running too.

Main Problem is the Wireless Network being disabled...Please Help.

You'll need to download the drivers from HP's website on another computer, and burn them to a CD or use a USB thumb drive.

When you say there's nothing in the Device Manager, do you mean the device isn't showing at all? Or is there a yellow triangle with a ! inside of it? Or the third option, is it there, showing fine, but still doesn't work?

Yup, pretty much a long shot for any kind of support for downgrading a prebuilt PC... Good luck, man!

From what I read, your Wifi is either a Broadcom or Atheros. You can remove an access panel on the bottom of the notebook (should be one or two really small philips screws) and look at the card, which will say.

If the wifi is a Broadcom, try this one (note DV9700 CTO): Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver HP Pavilion dv9700 CTO Notebook PC

Or if it's an Atheros try this: AR5007_XP.zip

More of your drivers are here: Software & Driver downloads

You'll have to put them on a flash drive or CD until you get your Internet working though.
