<--- Linux

But on Windows, I always used to use Kaspersky. Better than all the mainstream ones.

I use AVG on Vista. Small footprint, unobtrusive, and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I use McAfee. It's kinda big, semi-intrusive, and makes me pissed off when something changes a key in the registry and have to click 'allow', even when installing something as simple as Java or Macromedia Flash, and it doesn't make me warm and fuzzy, but it's free and decent at keeping me protected.

Kaspersky is probably the best if you can find a working key for it.

But AVG is free and its just as good.

It may be good to have a AV and firewall.. because of exploits..

Also a good firewall is, ZoneAlarm, its a spyware scanner aswell. Check this site out, it has alot of info and help.

Never. Nothing beats being careful, IMO. Virus scanners take too many resources, anyway.

I'm paranoid, in a "suspenders and belt" kind of way, so I run AVG as well as being careful of my download habits, using Firefox with NoScript, and not allowing PDF viewing inside my browsers (before the latest news about it came out).

My one lax point is using Windows Firewall instead of another, and that's just because online games have much more random ping for me, when they go through some versions of Zonealarm. Thus, I have no outgoing security at all.

That would be great, but I have non-savvy users that use my computer. I didn't use to use anything, but now and I am married w/ kids.

In firefox? I don't know, and will never find out. In IE, there is code-execution malware out for an Adobe PDF reader vulnerability. I just don't like in-browser PDF, though. It's annoying.

No av here.

However I do ever so often run an online virus scan, kapersky.

I don't think I've had any type of virus or malware since I've been using firefox!

As a side note.

I highly recommend foxit if you are looking for an adobe pdf reader alternative.

I used AVG. Does what I need it to do. And I run ad-aware every so often.

I watch what I download and stuff. Unfortunately, my wife is completely clueless when it comes to a lot of this stuff, so...yeah. I've had to clean-up some spyware from time to time.

Avast!

All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can.

Nod32, uses like nothing compared to a lot of virus scanners.

I make myself laugh.
