Hello everyone,

I'm hoping someone might be able to help me out with this...at my work, I've got the task of going through some existing clients hardware, and evaluating if it'll be enough for their system.

We have a program that does some WMI calls to get the number of processors, etc.

What I'm looking for, is a good way to find out WHAT kind of processors they are....for example, all I get back from my program is the number, name, and clock speed of the processors, so I'd be able to tell it was an Intel Xeon, 3.6ghz clock speed, and there's 8 of them.

However, the WMI call only gathers LOGICAL, not physical processors.

Do any of you guys know a good way, either programmatically through WMI, or any other way (preferably not a third party tool since I can't use that at a client site) of determining if the server has single/dual/quad core processors, and if they're hyper threaded or not? As it stands, I cant tell if the 8 CPU's are dual quads, 4 dual cores, 4 single hyperthreaded (since one HT CPU will show as 2 logical proc.), etc....

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
-X
