| Curmudgeon | ![]() Hooray for new gadgets. I thought I'd write up my thoughts on these speakers for anyone who's interested. So what I wanted in a pair of PC speakers was something that would provide clear, accurate, well rounded sound for about 100$. This system was going to be strictly for my apartment (PC music and video), and I opted for a 2.0 system. There are a couple reason I decided to forgo the subwoofer: first, I like to play stuff loud and often late into the night and I'm trying to be courteous to my neighbours; second, price; third, for my budget I don't think you can really find anything more than a one note sub; forth, I'm not a bass head. Okay so do these things deliver (and remember we're talking in the context of <100$ PC speakers)? Well, yes! It's just what I wanted. Clear sound from the lower midrange up to the highs. In fact I'm picking out detail in the highs I've not heard before in some of my favourite songs. The midrange is probably the strongest aspect of these speakers overall. While watching movies voices are suitably prominent. Listening to the likes of Willy Nelson, Johnny Cash or Doc Watson, with their great bold singing, is a real treat! The T40's are capable of going plenty loud for my ears, and without distortion. Sampling some other music I had at on hand, Rush (rock), Lisa Ekdahl (female vocal jazz) and Dylan (in all his heterogeneous glory), was very much to my liking. Coming from a pair of headphones regarded by some as bass-head cans (Beyerdynamic DT770's), it's not hard to hear (or feel) what your lacking with the T40's. I'm not saying they're devoid of bass, it just doesn't rattle your brain or hit you in the gut. The mid to mid-low range is present, and precise enough but without the impact or depth you'd get from a subwoofer. That's no surprise of course, but I thought it worth mentioning. The construction is typical PC speaker plastic, but feels plenty solid. They are great looking speakers, and fit right in to my stylin' workstation ![]() Well that's about all I can think to say about these things. They fit my needs, and were worth the money. If I were to upgrade I'd probably stick with a simple 2.0 setup. I considered spending a little more and going the DIY route with an amp from 41hz.com and a bookshelf speaker kit from partsexpress.com, but this was simpler and I simply don't have the space or tools for a DIY project atm. |

| Chimp. | I got the model down from these, heres an old pic from my album with my setup: ![]() I couldn't recommend these highly enough if you are after a 2.0 system. As you said the highs are brilliantly crisp, and offers really nice bass from a relatively small (computer) speaker. |

| P/T State Worker | Creative? I never really liked them, thought they were cheap. I really need to update my speakers but really can't afford to atm because of no J-O-B. I've always been a fan of Logitech speakers |

| Chimp. | Their low-end is so so.. (in function & form.) these are from their gigaworks range though, creatives high-end audiophile-like range of speakers. |

| Curmudgeon | Yeah, I think if I was looking for a 2.1 speaker set I'd be all over those Klips. And they are frequently selling for as low as 99$. |

| Curmudgeon | Sure, if you like. Never hurts to have some more content available I suppose, though it's really just a mini review and maybe not up to par. |
