Ok for a couple of months now I have been asking what you all think about my beeping computer whenever I try to play games. I have run SpeedFan, and we have all collectivly decided that my P4 3.2G socket 478 CPU just isn't getting cooled enough. I am finally sick of it. I can't play a damn game on my computer because of it. So I am gonna get rid of the Fan/Heatsink that came with the CPU and replace it.

Heres where you come in....What should I get???
I need it to be under $40. Should I stick with any particular brands?? I have seen the heatpipe things now avaliable...are those worth it?? What should I get for maximum cooling under $40?? Please help. Thanks.

3 sites I like. I have used 1 heatpipe heatsink that worked ok in a desktop but I don't see how they could work in a tower. From what I've read they work like steam heat, but for that to work the heat source would have to be at the lowest point.

Q6600@ 3.4 Underwater, P5E-VM HDMI, 4GB OCZ, EVGA 8800GT, PCP&C 610w

I have one of these, and it beats the livin' snot out of the stock POS that intel shipped with my retail CPU.
Also,mu stock fan didn't turn enough RPMs to work well and my asus monitor kept going off because the rpm's were below the threshhold, so I had to set it to "ignore".

$2 over your budget (if u get it now with free shipping) and it blows just about every other air cooling setup out of the water.

Ok now which is better the Arctic 7 or the thermaltake??
Do these things mount on easily like with the stock fan/heatsink?? I just don't understand how this would mount.

I think the TT BT is better, but its also more expensive (a little). Usually, you have to remove your motherboard, and a bracket installs underneath the board, and then the cooler gets screwed into the bracket.

ok, I know this is noob but I have had some issues before....kinda, it's been a while so it's foggy.

But when I remove my board and put everything back, am I gonna be setup just like before I removed the board? Or am I gonna have to reinstall Windows, or have problems of any sort? I highly doubt this will be the case but please just give me a heads up. Thanks.

everything should be fine. You're hardware would remain all the same (cpu cooler doesn't register in windows) and your harddrive wouldn't be erased, so your windows would be fine.

Ok, well I am kinda worried now. I ordered the Big Typhoon, and now I am scared that it is not gonna fit on my board. Sheesh!! That would Suck.

I have an Asus P4P800-e board. Tell me what you guys think....will it fit??

There have been confirmed reports of it fitting on a P4C800-e, but as of yet I can't find confirmation on my board. Crap! What Do I do now?

*** Edit: Ok I have since found ppl that have had the same combination that I am going for. So I am keeping my fingers crossed. Man if I screw this up it will make my record in PC upgrades 0/26. I am really bad at this ***

I have the p5p800, if the freezer seven will fit it, the typhoon surely must. The freezer 7 is huge! The issue will be more of what will your case accomodate. I didn't have to remove my mobo if I remember right.....or did I?
It's been a few years, I can't remember. But I do remember that it was a piece of cake.
