| My E-Penis Is HUGE | I was thinking about getting a laptop. I was thinking about a 15.4 Gateway NX570 Series with 2GB. Does anyone here have any hands on experience with this laptop? I plan on doing a dual boot of Ubuntu and Windows Vista Home. I'm going to be mainly using this for music, Internet, and Ubuntu. Now, this is just a considered purchase and nothing is certain yet. But if you were planning on purchasing this model laptop would you up the ram to 2GB or keep it at the standard 1GB? AGAIN this is a purchase I'm CONSIDERING |
| All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can. | |

Wait a minute, you're going to be "using this for Ubuntu." I don't get it. Like to play around with, or are you planning on actually using it? | |

| Banned | I recently picked up a Dell E1505, Core 2 Duo 1.86Ghz, 1gb DDR2, ATI X1400, 120gb, BlueTooth 2.0ERI, Intel Wifi a/b/g, WSXGA+, 9-cell battery for $850 shipped to my door from the deals section. Currently running Arch 0.8. Gnome + Beryl if I'm not running on battery, Fluxbox when I'm on the move though. Beryl is a hog, I only get about 3-4 hours on battery compared to 7-8 if I use fluxbox alone. How much $$ do one of those lappy's run? If you are running vista, go 2gb for sure, Linux you won't need it though. Last edited by Electric_Head; 06-04-2007 at 11:40 PM.. |

| King of the Wicker People | I love my notebook. I can only really play StarCraft on it, but I can remote in to home from anywhere, listen to my music, etc.. Of course, it's a company provided notebook (ThinkPad R40). It's a 14" screen, 1GB ram, Celeron 2Ghz. I've thought about buying my own notebook because it's just so cool to pick-up my computer, go anywhere, and feel like I'm at home. |

| Banned | You mentioning it is actually how I found out about the distro maybe 6 months ago. After using Slackware and Gentoo for the last few years I decided to give something different a try. So far so good, setup was quicker than Gentoo for sure. |

| Globe Trekker | 2GB of ram, or you'll just end up upgrading it anyway. But you'll love it. I brought home a laptop from work to use as a "proof of concept" to see if I'd use it, and ended up finding that I used it more than I had even imagined. Consider a MacBook though, no joke. I love mine, and I was the biggest Mac critic that ever was. |

| Tweak Minion | Every laptop I used Vista on runs like ass with 2 gbs of ram. Make sure to get a 7200 RPM hard drive if you plan on using Vista otherwise your gonna be in hard drive thrashing heaven. |
