Uhm yeah, well I use wireless routing (from my other comp downstairs) for my computer which is upstairs. My PS2 is also upstairs, and I need to connect it to the internet for FFXI.

I was thinking about just running an ethernet cable from my PC upstairs to my PS2, because they're only like 5 feet away from eachother.

Do I have to change any settings for my computer to send the signal, or will it just work to connect the two?

If you have 2 NIC's in the one computer, you'll need to setup another network, aside from the router
the windows network wizard should work fine... just say "this computer connects directly to the internet" when it asks... and then select the NIC that connects to the router(the wireless one)... if that doesnt work Let me know... though it should... i've never actually done it be4... using a router

No sorry,

2 including the wireless so;

just add 1 network card to the PC, so that u can run the line from the PC to the PS2

(or if u have an onboard one already, that's fine)

If poeple play CS on wireless, they can play ps2... poeple notice a SLIGHT adjustment of a ping in CS... if i'm playing at a server where my ping is 50 i can tell the difference if it shoots up to 80... PS2 game's need to be at between 100 and 500 and that's still without notice. there is no way in living hell that he would ever be able to tell the difference between wireless or hardwire on a ps2

Oh Yeah.

But if you get a cat5 u can make it into a xover cable VERY easy

Cut open the wire in the middle of the cable,
Splice the 2 and 6 together
then
Splice the 1 and 3 together

Since you only need to cut 4 of the wires, just cut the wire so that u can decided which of the colored wires to cut, then cover in tape or epoxy and your ready to go

So I went over to Tk6500's house to test out the thing i told you to do... i felt a little guilty telling somebody to do something i've never tested... HOWEVER... it works flawlessly

we used his laptop cuz it has a built in wireless card and a hardwire eithernet port... very simple setup

I think I have a spare crossover cable if you need one. Its red and kind of short though.
