I need a good color laser printer/copier...

Its for my finance who is a teacher. Im tired of her going to staples to have all her copying done.

Whats a good brand color laser printer/copier I can get for her? Nothing brand spanking new or top of the line. Just something that works and will last. I am going to probably get one off ebay. It only needs to make copies and laser prints in black and white. She only prints in color every once in a while.

Ideas? Suggestions?

We use a OKI at work, you gotta make sure to get the high capacity toner cartridges though.

I make myself laugh.

My work used to use brother's. Went through 2 of them in 2 years. We switched to canon, and it seems to be working great, and it's like 1.5 years old. All our printers were standard BW though.

I'm good so far with my HP 1600.

EDIT: That sentence was horrible

Given what I've been reading about the dangers of laser printer toner dust I wouldn't care to own one in my home. But of the two you posted I'd probably pick the HP because Samsung is fairly new to the market. Either way you're looking at some expensive consumables. I'd read up on cost per page, she might end up better off with a professional inkjet.

You can't beat lasers. We get several thousand sheets per cartridge. And it's not like they ever clog like ink cartridges.

The color laser printers we have can't hold a candle to a quality business inkjet. Canon, HP, Kyocera... When quality counts we use a 4-6 cartridge inkjet. And they've got replaceable print heads so gunking isn't an issue. And there's the toner dust health issue, and the warm up period, and the noise... To each his own I suppose.

Speaking of toner dust. I had one fall apart on me and pink went EVERYWHERE.

I make myself laugh.

^^^ yeah, thats always fun. I stopped wearing white shirts to work after that happened 3 or 4 times

I'll second kain. The HP color lasers are awesome. Go find one of the companies that refurbs and warranties them, and you can get a killer deal that way.

It's not that bad. It's 2000-2500 full sheets per cartridge and it's about 90$ per cartrige. You need 4 of them in the printer (black, cyan, yellow, magenta)

I use the draft quality for everything I print that is unnoficial, so I get more from the toner cartridges.

Ha! I spilled a yellow toner cartridge as I was hauling a printer on a two wheeled cart and didn't notice right away. It looked like alien blood going down the hallway.
