ive been wondering whats wrong with my friends comp.. cant seem to fix it..
for some reason it does NOT read the hard drive. i switched with another
hard drive and it still did not read. i put a dvd drive and it read. anyone might know whats wrong?

is the ide connector on the motherboard specifically only for optical drives?

some PCI controller cards are like that: only they are limited to hard drives and do not support cd/dvd drives.

Umm, check the cable, try a different cable, if it's a rounded cable try a ribbon cable, make sure its the 80 wire one.
