so i have downloaded 4.2 gigs of a 4.3 gig file using bit torrent then it stoped and i look at the peer list and nobody has the full file, they are all stoped where i am, is there a way to start useing a diffrent torrent file without restarting my download? I can find the same file at diffrent search sites, where they have the full download. I have just spent a week downloading this shit and i don't want to start over.

It needs to be from the same torrent I belive.

All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can.

Well, if the data is EXACTLY the same, then you can probably use a torrent from a different tracker. Every file has to be the exact same size, same name, same capitialization, same everything!

4.2 gigs is nothing...it took like 3 or so weeks for Cart to download all 16 seasons of the Simpsons....at one point we thought it was never going to finish. 38.5 gigs by the way. Just restart with another one that has better health.

When you open a new torrent, point it to the previous torrent's directory. If you're using a good torrent client, it will check the file hashes and if they match, contine from there.

sometimes it's just the folder name that's different with the same torrent on different trackers.

start a new torrent, then pause the download, move all the finished old data into the new folders...
that's what i did several times, when my data became curupted

"You know, I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."

Haha, owned.

I find that if you wait someone will eventually seed again. I had a CD missing one 256kb segment sitting without a seed for about a week before it finished. If that's not your fancy then I know that Azureus let's you switch to another tracker for any torrent on one of the dropdown menus it has.
