I currently have a 'ASUS GF2 MX400 64MB'

And i'm wondering what would be the best Video card for my mobo that i could run? It's AGP cards

It could be that the AGP card is newer than the slot. Aren't there some newer AGP cards slotted in such a way that older, lower voltage motherboards can't take them?

Yup...AGPv1 and v2, one's 3.3v and the other is 1.5v.
