So im looking for a new video card. The fan on mine is dead, and the 6600 is starting to show its age.

This is what im currently looking at:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150145

Anyone able to find anything better? I wanted to do SLI at first with this card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125028

But the cards, new mobo, and PSU will probably be just under 400$ not to mention i dont want to deal with a mobo swap. So it looks like the card im currently looking at is gonna be it unless someone finds better. Then hopefully a 20.1" Widescreen for my birthday and I'll be fucking styling.

The XFX is the way I would go. The reveiws are all good but for noise and last i checked fans are cheap. I really haven't seen anyhing to make me want to spend for SLI yet though.

Im a shameless nvidia fanboy.. And I dont want to spend $40 more bucks for 256bit memory. Plus that falls outside my category of under $200 (excluding rebates).

Why not save money and just do what I did? Pull the old fan and fan shroud off the heatsink, then put an 80, or whatever size fan you want under the heatsink. My card is significantly cooler and quieter due to this cheapassed little mod.

I can get a picture of how I modded an old modem to hold the fan, if you'd like.

The cooling is no problem. I have a 120 case fan pointed right at the card so its fine. I just want a new card

I know what you mean, I'm waiting for my new case to install "my" under $200. vid card. I got a 6800gt for $175 on ebay. My mobo seems to be picky and this was my only alternative. I need the new case because this one is a SFF and limits everything. I've got the vid card, new 19' Septre lcd, (cheap an looks good!) bigwater setup, new 550 power supply, fans, cables all the shit to go but the case. Can't wait to see how it clocks. This isn't the pc I have posted. I like the ASUS mobo, this is MSI and their support is non existent and it's AGP. If this card doesn't play nice I'll sell the card and use the mobo for fertilizer.
If you ever do the board thing don't go MSI. The 7300 is a decent card and the monitor looks good too.
Hows THAT for moral support?
keep in mind I'm just a noob!

It was between the Scepter Widescreen and this moniter. Scepter seems to be putting out great products for price, but i just cant resist a 4ms response time for a gaming rig.

And on MSI, i wont bother again. My current video card is an MSI and its blown two fans. Thier Support department was amazing, but thier Quality sucks.

I've been looking at a scepter 32" LCD for use as a monitor. The specs aren't bad and ther price is OK. Can't find too much in the way of reviews on this product though. I have a MSI mobo in the #2 computer, it's done well for 4 years running a P4 Northwood. They didn't have much in the way of tech support besides a forum. That's OK, I learned alot on their forum.

I don't know man, the 200 cards are slow, I would go for a Geforce 7900 for a little bit more, it would be worth it.

The 7900 cards just have more pipelines. Theyre actually slower number wise. Its not worth the extra $100 to me right now.

But hmm. There are some cheap open box items on newegg.

Did mean 7900? Yeah, I'm almost there too. I did get the 6800 put together with the msi but I'm still frustrated with this board.

I got the 6800 off ebay. I don't know if the shipping fucked it up or the seller had ripped me off but the fan mounts were broken. I had to resolder them and it works fine. I bought the paypal protection plan but didn't use it because this MSI board is so picky and this was the fastest agp card I could find anywhere that was on MSI's list.
