Ive been without a spyware remover since i installed legit xp pro.
coupled with firefox/adblock/latest windows updates/hijackthis... i feel like i still dont need a spyware remover..

but what currently is the best so far?
i remember spybot and adaware being the best at a point in time.

then windows defender/antispyware began to get some credibility.

I use Spybot - Search & Destroy and SpywareBlaster, and avast! Home Edition for viruses.

well, it isn't a bad idea to have windows defender installed for the common user who doesn't install updates or practice caution. Keep in mind if you install windows defender, it will run in the background, and I haven't checked to see if you can just disable the service/program from starting up to just use it on demand.

Trial version- http://www.noadware.net/ It is better than what came with ATT Yahoo so I bought it. Well worth the $20

I found this which is freeware and it also seems to be very good. It does not claim to be a spyware removal tool but when I've run it before the spyware tools the spyware tools almost always come up empty.

I use spyware doctor. The "free" shit doesn't stop or clean much. 'Defender' is useless in my opinion.
