Ok so for 2 months now I have started to get Blue screen of death. Some times I would get the blue screen and it would do a memory dump. Before this would happen my screen would freeze up while doing random things like surfing net, playin WoW, really anything at all just depend on the day i guess.

I have already ran memtest and prime 95 and got no errors at all even running it over night. Tested each stick by itself on memtest. I dont get any errors or any type of freezing at all when I am using 1 stick of memory.

The funny thing is my computer will start to act funny and freeze up when I am using 2 sticks of memory. I dont think the memory is bad since I have ran numerous memtest on it.

My mobo is a nforce 650i ultra and my memory is Corsair cm2x1024-6400c4 which is 2x1gb sticks.

Any help would be appreciated. THANKS

So the BIOS is back to the defaults? I guess I'd recommend pulling out all the non-essential equipment. If it's got onboard video, use it. Pull all the IDE / SATA devices except for the BOOT disk. And just see if it crashes. If not, slowly start adding back the devices one at a time. You might find that a good reseat of everything might do the trick. If it keeps crashing with everything out, swap the memory if you can. At that point if it's still crashing I'd replace the mobo and CPU.

You might try contacting the vendor too. I'm sure it's out of warranty but they might point you to some diagnostic tests or other free help.

Ok thanks MSP I guess I will contact the vendor it has a 3 year warranty on it and it's only about 8 months old. I am not too computer saavy but I can do this kind of stuff if someone is helping over the phone. I have looked up my Mobo and people say on newegg they get a lot DOA with these Mobo's if I am lookin up the right one that is.

Oh yah I have a 500gb hard drive but for some reason it is only reading the 80gb one when I pull up it up in MyComputer. Think I messed somethign up during the reinstall of windows. Think it was something to do with the partitions. Because I can see the 500gb hard drive in the bios.

Oh well I'll call DS customer service tomorrow.

Thanks for the help though!

Well shit, under warranty? Get your ass on the phone! The downer is they may ask you to send it in to them, so be prepared to back up your shit.

Yah exactly it took them a month for them to build it and test it... lol

Hopefully they can just send me a MoBo and walk me through how to install that.

I donno, you can't really walk someone through how to install a mobo over the phone. At least if I was the company I would not do that. Read up how to do it online.

Generally bigger computer companies will 'hire out' a tech site to fix stuff. What type of warranty do you have? Is it a Return to Depot type warranty, where you have to ship out the system? Or is it another type of warranty? Call them and find out which one it is. Generally, Motherboards are considered vendor replaceable units, not something a customer normally does on their own.

But if you're comfortable doing it yourself, make sure you tell them. They may be able to just send out a replacement motherboard and they can walk you through it on the phone. Replacing a Mobo isn't the hardest thing in the world.

The next time it blue screen's, write down the STOP code so we can have a better understanding of what it is. This could just be a bad power supply also, so a new Mobo might not fix it. Some computer manufacturers replace both the Mobo and PSU, because either one could be causing the problem.

Sorry O.P / all, I'm in a rush and haven't read all the posts/replies yet.

I had a problem with an A.S.Rock mobo and after months of wondering which piece of hardware was faulty in my p.c., a tech-minded friend finally tracked down what my problem was- faulty capacitors.
Whack "capacitor plague" into a search engine or go to wiki for more info.

**If your manufacturer is supplying a new motherboard, make sure it doesn't have the same, cheap & faulty capacitors on it!
Good luck

I despise ASRock! A buddy and I deployed about 10 of those motherboards and I think there's only one or two still in service.

Well.. ASRock definitely won't be seeing any more of my hard cash.. that's what they get for being cheapskates. Talk about bad marketing/a false economy, thanks to those cheap&nasty capacitors, they've probably lost a lot of money in returning customers.

And thanks to the ASRock mobo going fritz on me, I'm forced to use my previous Asus mobo which is like 7 years old and still going strong and I've had to downgrade my processor and RAM.

Bah. :\

Well I still haven't called the company about the warranty had some appointments and stuff. But I did talk to a friend online about my problem tellin him when I have 2 sticks in and freezes up. After chatting a while we told me to check voltages on it guess it was set to 2.1 so I lowered it to 1.8v and it seems stable so far. I ran memtest with both sticks in for 11hours last night and no errrors.

I will finally call the company if it gives me a BSOD and also take a note of which error it is.

Thanks for all the replys guys and i'll keep it up to date on what I find out the problem is.
