For some reason when I got to this one page my cpu usage jumps pretty high and almost crashes firefox but after several seconds it loads and the cpu usage drops to normal.

It loaded immediately for me. I had a look at the code on the page and there are a couple of javascripts that are kicked off clientside. Maybe try reinstalling JRE.

Sounds like a typical flash/gif type problem to me. But like the rest, I'm having no problems with this page, and I'm running FF 1.5, though I've tweaked it up with help from Tweakguides Firefox tweakemup page.

You may need to do a clean install of FF, which means erasing your X:\Documents and Settings\(YourComputerIdentityHere)\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox folder and X:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox folder, after you uninstall Firefox and reboot. This will get rid of all vestages of possible incompatible extensions for your new installation attempt.

After that you get to install all new themes and extensions, as well as the occasional plugin like Flash and Shockwave. I'm using Tabbrowser Preferences, NoScript, and ForecastFox extensions myself

It appears to be an adblock issue. I've uninstalled adblock and then reinstalled it and all is well.

Apparently the bug mentioned in j0k3r's thread might be related.

Yep. Extension incompatibility is a number one issue right now.

I prefer NoScript to AdBlock anyway.

Do you have a link? I like adblock because of the ability to use wildcards.

A link for NoScript? http://www.noscript.net/whats. I have Adblock, Flashblock and NoScript all installed, so you don't have to pick one or the other.
