| | Another "Can PC Gaming Survive?" Article | permalink #1 |
| Tweak3D Webmaster | It seems every few months someone rambles on about how PC gaming is in danger, then a qualified source explains why that's not the case. This time ExtremeTech has posted the retort explaining that PC gaming is nowhere near extinct. First Person Shooters and Massive Multiplayer Online games will fuel the PC gaming industry for years to come, but the gap between consoles and PCs is always slimming. This is not something you should fear though, as it only means capable gaming systems will be more widespread and cheaper in the long run. In related news, The Inquirer reports that Gears of War will come to the PC "eventually". And did you guys see the latest Crysis videos? The nuke at the end of the tech demo is incredible! The engine is always looking better with extended view distance and easily created terrain, clouds, and roads among other benefits. Read about the videos here on 1-UP, but watch em first! | |

| Jolly Bolly Fo-Folly | I agree, the fact that consoles are becoming more robust, just means there are more games to play, and more options for developers. The PC market wont die, well unless everyone stopped playing PC games, but I dont see that happening. The enthusiast hardware market is still very strong, and holding pace, so the games will continue to benefit from that exposure. Crysis just looks awesome, I cant wait to play it, as well as with the dev tools. My brother can finally have his completely destructible apartment building with walls that can be shot through. Fun stuff... nukes baby! | |
