Ok so here is my new problem today, I went to install my new JVC camcorder and to install it you need to let windows detect it and set windows to search the cd for the JVC USB drivers. Though windows wouldn't detect it so I tried adding the hardware manualy though the "add new hardware device wizard" After a couple of seconds an error came up and said that you can only install one device at a time and that there was a device being installed already (In the background prosesses I guess) so I waited and waited but nothing happened.
Next I gave up and unplugged it, then rebooted my computer. I tried running the add new hardware wizard without the camcorder plugged in and I got the same error and everything else is installed on my computer. So I am guessing it might be a problem with that program on windows I just need help fixing this. Thanks guys!

Go to Device Manager, and see if the camcorder is listed with an ! in there at all. If it isnt, try clicking the "Scan for hardware changes" button. When you first plugged in the camcorder, did the wizard come up?

I checked and my camera is not installed in the device manager, and no the wizard wont come up for anything that is usb even though I hear the windows XP ding dong sound that plays when you plug something in.

You didn't see anything strange in Device Manager, did you? If I don't install the drivers first, Windows detects my scanner as a question mark "other" device...

The camcorder isnt the point, I realized that this is happening with anything new I plug in. The wizard wont come up and When I go to control panel and click add new hardware it always says there is a hardware device already being installed and you cant run 2 installations.
