If you're looking for a decent notebook on a very tight budget, check out this deal currently available from CompUSA: You get an Acer Aspire 3690-2970 (1.6GHz Celeron M, 15.4" WXGA CrystalBrite TFT, 512MB DDR2, 80GB Hard Drive, CDRW/DVD Combo, 802.11b/g and Windows Vista) for only $349 after mail-in rebates.

There's another kicker that makes this a bit better - you'll also qualify for the Canon Pixma IP1800 deal currently being offered, so you'll get a free printer, too.

This deal is scheduled to expire on 8/18/07, but when supplies are gone it's unlikely you'll be able to get one of these for this price.

The sit of running Vista with 512 mbs of ram is scary. Otherwise it's a great deal.

I'd put a gutted copy of XP on there or upgrade the memory. I wish I could justify this right now.
