WAHOOOOOO

Huge difference with more ram and a new video card

Old setup = 5000+, 1900xtx, 2 gig ddr 800 vista 64. Only got 5800.
New setup = 5000+, 8800GT, 4 gig ddr800 5-5-5-12 and vista 64. almost 9000 with no tweaking

Meh...3DMark settings used to be so important to me. If I was not getting the highest scores possible for my system, I was never happy. Now...I simply do not care.

I finally got around to benchmarking my new laptop: 7347 3DMarks, not bad. All standard settings, no tweaks.

Man Ive been having nothing but problems with the 8800GT. The drivers keep crashing. I ordered a ZF1000 to cool it. Im thinking it gets way to hot during game play.

I had quite a few problems that I thought were related to my video card, but none have proven true. I was getting random lockups during games, which resulted in scrambled video and odd noises from my onboard sound. My largest problem I encountered was related to my ram. I'm running 4gb of Adata Vitesta ram in my system, and had to slow down the memory timings to make it run stable. Don't see any decrease in performance, and it's 100% rock solid now.

Just some food for thought.

I will deffinatly look into that when I get home on Monday. Ive heard that from somebody else. I will give it a shot, thanks.

Last night I reimaged my Core 2 Duo (2.8ghz) / Nvidia 8800GTS system and scored about 9800 on 3DMark. Given that my desktop is running an 800mhz faster CPU I'm pretty impressed how well the laptop holds up to it.

I can't seem to break 13k, no matter how hard I try. I quit when I hit 12,988 with a severe overclock of both my video card and processor.

I'll just have to live with it I guess.
