Hi,
I was having little random freezes problem in 3d games(Need for speed most wanted for example(even with lowest details and resolution...) i tried everything(almost) i even changed my motherboard and supply power...
recently i tried this weird idea of someone in the web :
He suggested changing the "CPU to AGP2.0/AGP3.0" System Device to "PCI to PCI Bridge"...(in Device Manager)

it highly improved performance!!!
but i dont understand what it really does and what im loosing here ??! :-*()

Please advice
Regards,
mipmip

What 3D games does this happen on? Does it do it with certain games (Source games, for instance, do this to everyone with a less-than-stellar or overclocked system) or does it affect every game, no matter how old and small (like Quake Classic or Half Life original)?

Off hand, with less than 1 Gig of memory, running Windows XP, and with an unknown amount of background processes (like Instant Messengers, or all those "quickstart" features of several programs, that start up at boot-time, so that Office, Adobe, and Quicktime seem "peppier"), your games might just be causing a lot of swapping to the HDD, which will cause freezes like that, since you have to wait till the memory is moved around before your game can use it...

Barton 3000+ @426fsb/2.23ghz
1 Gig Kingston HyperX PC3200 dual mode@426mhz
Samsung 40 Gig HD
Samsung DVD+/-RW
