| Paw? | Which one offers a better sustained transfer rate? Also, does the USB 2.0 bursts outweigh sustained transfer speeds with large files? I recently bought a Maxtor 500GB external drive and I have the option for either USB or 1394 |

| Globe Trekker | Firewire is pretty much a niche though. I'd buy USB 2.0 / eSATA combo devices. And hell, USB 3.0 is just around the corner. |

| Cheap Bastard | I've always heard that FireWire has a better sustained tranfer rate than USB 2.0, despite having lower bandwidth. |

| I Am The Black Wizards | Firewire. If it can handle 16 tracks @ 88.2kHz/24bit, I think it's a winnar. |
