| Senior Member | What are some good suggestions I kinda like both the m1330 and x61. M1330 is a lot better multimedia package that i like, but lacks the durability and ultra-portable. What are some other suggestions. The HP 14.1" laptops give you a really warm feeling from all the nice mouldings and decorates. |

| Tweak Minion | A Macbook + Windows XP might be good. That's what I'm doing right now. Check out IBMs. |

| jive turkey | I have a dell d420. Love it. The thing is fucking tiny. Not horribly quick, but I'm on it for work at least 12 hours a day and it is perfectly fine. |

| Globe Trekker | I would have suggested the XPS M1330 or a Macbook, and I see both have been suggested already. Both are great choices, and the price is about the same. Whatever you do, don't buy an HP! The Consumer Reports reliability numbers for them are in the toilet, and I personally have a friend who bought one that has been a nightmare. Lenovo/IBM, Apple, Dell, or Toshiba are your best bets. |

| Senior Member | how durable is it? does the fan run constantly? I want a laptop that doesn't make fan noise at all during normal use, yet portable and durable enough to bring it to and from work everyday. |

| Globe Trekker | The D420-430s are as durable as any other laptop, just smaller. It's not a Toughbook or anything. I don't ever recall hearing the fan run, so they are either really quiet or never got hot enough while I was using them. For me the screen and keyboard are too damn small. I ended up getting a Mobile Precision M4300 for myself, so go figure. |
