This thread will be used to document significant changes being made to the site.

1/16
I've made tons of updates lately but haven't really documented them. Here are some:
-Decided to hold on image gallery until new Vbulletin which replaces it with a much better version that's seemlessly integrated to profiles (read more here: PROJECT CANNED! (photo gallery))
-Added a new ad to the top corner. I'll try to get contests going and sponsor them with that ad location.
-Promoted j0k3r, Lord Kain, and ivwshane to Moderator status
-Updated VBA-CMPS (see the front page at Tweak3D.Net - Tune-up your PC for Free), will be adding sidebar modules for certain sections of the site (not on public forums!) I will be working on its style tomorrow.
-Made various icon changes and visual tweaks... still have a lot of work to do here.

- Redesigned/resized the spell check icon to make it more visible
- Configured template so the Tweak Market Feedback only shows in the Tweak Market forum
- Created an icon for the photo gallery entries, which only show if you have photos in the gallery. See the camera icon under my name for an example.
- Added "Tweakers" to the navigation bar. This shows users, sorted by postcount.
- Changed the term "UserCP" to "Profile".
- Changed the front page graphics to match better. Still have a lot of work to do there...
- Created a user article template with notes. I will post this within a few days after I finish and edit.
- Changed the "FavIcon" that appears when the site is bookmarked or in a tab. Clear cache and reload if you don't see it.
- Changed the top ad on the front page to always show an image.
- Users who haven't registered will see the text marquee "Join our cult" in the top left corner.

- Added spell check! Now, in any new post or quick reply you make, there's a tiny little icon in the top-right of your post box. Click this Check Spelling option to see a pop-up window with a built-in spell check/replace button. Enjoy!

- Added new icons to the gaming section and updated some in the tech section. Added icons for console repair forum (renamed forum to Mod Chips and Console Repair)
- Photo gallery has been re-configured. Changes made were to the categories and sorting features and phrases were updated.
- Trader Feedback added. This is like an Ebay score for transactions you perform (items you purchase or sell) in the Tweak Market Forum. If you have dealt with anyone recently, please give them feedback to help support their future sales!

- Removed "other" forum category and merged things around for a cleaner index page.

- Click "Quick Links" at the top, then choose "Top Posters of the Month" from the dropdown. You can now see who the most active users are for each month or year.

- Added source links for passive embed videos on Youtube and Google Video.

- Registration process reduced from 3 pages to 1 page(!!!). The number of required fields and steps was reduced by about 30%. This should help registration rates.
- Fixed the "Welcome headers" for guests. They were not showing for the last few months. This should help registration rates.
- Added new anti-spam protection (Most users don't see it, but we still ban about 5-7 users a week for spamming)
- Re-worded the Ajax registration entries to be more clever and witty.

12/11
- Changed user registration page to use AJAX to verify fields and password, etc., making it easier to register for the site.
- Removed e-mail verification as it was not preventing spam but causing a lot of annoying issues and slowing user registration
- We're working on making the registration process even faster.
- Added automatic video embedding. Basically if you post a link to a video, say, a Youtube link -- it is automatically embedded in your post with no editing required. This script supports 29 of the major video sites.
- Changed Thread Rating to only require 3 ratings before it shows the rating.

- It's been a while since I made any significant changes to the site! So I spent a little time changing things around, and merged the Tech and "Church of Voltron" (tech blog sections), making all T3D users' posts of equal weight -- in other words, all tech posts now show on the front page to hopefully maximize exposure to the tech section and help get those tricky questions answered, while cleaning up the forum index by removing two links. I also have it showing the game forum on the front page and changed some of the wording to make it look better. Next up I want to make it so there's some variation between gaming and tech posts on the front page, making it easier to read.

8/29
- Clicking post icons will now filter by that type of post. You can unfilter the icon by clicking the "Unfilter Icons" link at the top-left of the forum thread listing.
- Created a "trend" indicator on user ranking system as an up (green) or down (red) arrow. If you mouse-over this arrow, it will tell you what this user's rank was last month**. The value will update at midnight on the 1st of each month. No trend arrows will be shown unless your rank has changed from where it was at that time.
** - changed from weekly to monthly on 9/2/07

- Last referral now shows at the top on home and forum listings
- Removed ad on forum home due to poor performance
- User ranking system added (shows next to post count, and in profile)

- Configured post icons to only show in appropriate sections. More coming soon to improve the hardware section and others.
- Post icons are now required to be selected in all forums except OT and GG
- Most recent referral added to the forum index (at the bottom)

- Re-enabled Deals forum, but it's hidden. This is to promote the deals to other sections of the site primarily. For the most up-to-date deals, you'll still want to visit this section:

7/13:
I've made many changes since the last update but most were internal tweaks. Here's some of the others:
- Wrote this little guide to speed up the forums.
- Changed "Today's Posts" and "What's New" to not show the videos or deals feed
- Re-enabled bottom guest ad
- Disabled bottom thread ad for regular visitors
- Added a donations system with some starting goals for July (enough people helped us reach our July goal already, thanks guys!)

6/28:
- Added "Top 5 Stats" mod to the bottom of the forum index. Now you can see who are the top posters, what the latest replies are (* means they're new since your last visit) and who registered lately (see all the banned spammers

). You can also click the text "Statistics - Top 5" to see the Top 30 or more of these stats for our community. This is a pretty cool mod!
- Changed "Members who visited today" to "Members who visited in last 24 hours". Also added a Legend for the colored user-names (currently 4 are available).
- Added "Guests who visited in the last 24 hours". It's pretty amazing how many guests visit the forums on a given day and how many search engines will spider the site, so we felt like sharing these stats with the users.

6/27:
- Added custom post icons for all new threads. Contribute your own or discuss them here. They can be disabled in your user control panel if you do not like them.
- Merged NSFW and Drugs forums into a single NSFW forum.

6/26:
- "Similar threads" has been re-enabled. Any new thread will now show all related threads (according to keywords in title) below the post. This should make finding reposts, updated threads, or classic threads easier. It will be especially useful in the tech support section.

6/25:
- Several ads changed. We removed a couple, but added one more. The colors now rotate on some of the ads so they are not static. The unregistered user ad has been removed.

6/24:
- All icons in the forums have forced image dimensions now in HTML. This should assist load times, especially on pages with several images. If an image does not load, the broken image will be the correct size without distorting the design.
- The "What are you listening to" thread has been stickied in Off-Topic because it's an archive of all our cool music.

It also makes replacing lots of words in a hurry very easy. I'll probably use it whenever I see the FF form-checking finding an error.

Changes in the last few days:
-Vbulletin 3.6.8 installed (many changes including new ajax code that should speed up the site)
-Disabled requirement of post icons in gaming/tech forums
-Fixed error that caused signatures to show more than once even if specified not to in the User Profile options

To-do soon:
-Fix sort by post icon
-Fix bug where post icons are not hidden even when specified to be
-Fix table cell problems with default theme on front page
-Roll back 2 templates to add features to the forums
-Install VB 3.7
-Restyle front page

We'll also be upgrading the Arcade section this week.

New feature added:
When you go to post a new thread, a box should appear automatically after you've typed the thread title. The box should show any threads that have been posted at Tweak3D in the past with a similar thread title. This should help channel all replies about a topic to a specific thread instead of branching them out indefinitely in reposts.

The next time you post a new thread, let me know what you think of this feature.

BTW this will only work if you use descriptive thread titles -- which really benefit everyone.

The box should show any threads that have been posted at Tweak3D in the past with a similar thread title. This should help channel all replies about a topic to a specific thread instead of branching them out indefinitely in reposts. The next time you post a new thread, let me know what you think of this feature. BTW this will only work if you use descriptive thread titles -- which really benefit everyone.
