so is there anyway we can get the forums to work better with a mobile device? there has to be a way.

i know next to nothing about vbulletin, quick google search turned up this

Dan is busy about to start working on Fords and Chevy's 24/7 so he's brushing up on ancient solid axle technology and 3 on the tree shifters. He won't have time for silly updates like this.

I hear he's a Ford Fiesta specialist.

Okay, so here's the scoop.

I installed this mod and it seems to work okay.
I added a mobile theme after changing version numbers in the style and it seemed to work okay.

Then I realized two big problems.
1) There was no way to switch back to the regular themes.
2) Version 3.7 of Vbulletin came out today which offers tons of new features.

In order to make this work properly, I must update Vbulletin properly. I will do this sometime this week when I have Internet at home.

Just an update...
I still don't have Internet @ Home. I'm currently only able to get online at work, using my notebook. I'd much prefer to do all this when I have the time and it's on my desktop at home. I received my DSL (gag) equipment yesterday but it won't be activated until tomorrow. Hopefully it'll all be sorted out this weekend.

Another update...

I have Internet at home now (since last Friday) but I've got a couple car shows and a cruise to attend this weekend.

The real news is that I now have an iphone of my own, and I can absolutely see why a mobile forum skin is necessary. I will do my best to implement this as soon as possible. I want to do all of this before Monday.

Okay, I have updated our forum software and installed a default low resolution theme for iPhones / iPod touch etc. -- it's not great and some of the stuff appears in Spanish but it's pretty functional. It should automatically set the theme.

As gB dAvId x mentioned, the other option is the Low Resolution theme. Give them a try and let me know how it goes.

The tables seem to be a little weird but better than what it was before.

Try it now, I changed the theme choice. It will be really plain but should be very fast.

Edit - This skin was made for mobile phones - not necssarily iphones. I changed it to not set the theme for iphones automatically, then we can choose "Low resolution mega man" for iphones, which I think is the best option.

If you want to make the Mobile theme the default for iphone, bookmark this link.

I deleted the other theme because it had major compatibility issues with the latest version of Vbulletin, but I will try to find a good iPhone-specific theme for the site as well.

The images are replaced with links to the image. I don't think I can change that. =/ Want me to switch to another? I'm wondering how many people are using a mobile browser and what they all prefer.

I installed a new mod, I can now specify for different devices. So I set iPhones to use the low resolution Mega man, Windows CE/Mobile and others to use the new Mobile skin... which do you prefer for Windows mobile devices? Is that the type you have?

Do you prefer the one I had before this one (the greenish one with some Spanish etc.)? I think this one is best for WAP (?) phones because it's so fast, but I just want to maximize compatibility and if you guys want images I can re=add that one. There may be another option out there.
